DHAKA: Two cases were filed against over 50 Chhatra Dal and Jubo Dal leaders and activists including joint secretary general of BNP Ruhul Kabir Rizvi with Paltan Thana on charge of throwing cocktails at police and attempt to murder them.

Sub-Inspectors (SI) of Paltan Thana Monibur Rahman and Zahangir Alam filed the lawsuit with the Thana early Friday.

Inspector (Investigation) of Paltan Thana Tofail Ahmed told banglanews that a few cops including constable Sohel Rana of Public Order Management (POM) were injured in cocktail blasts during 71-hour blockade enforced by 18-party.

SI Zahangir Alam of Paltan Thana filed the lawsuit in this connection under the sections of Bangladesh penal code 353, 332, 333, 307/34, 109 and 3(VI) of explosives act, accusing Rizvi as the person who ordered the blast.

Besides, ASI Monibur Rahman of Paltan Thana filed a case against 25/30 BNP men, mentioning names of eight persons.

Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge of Paltan Thana Morshed Alam told banglanews that the cases were filed for throwing cocktails aiming the cops and obstructing them from discharging duties during the 18-party’s 71-hour blockade.
