RANGPUR: Jatiya Party called 48-hour hratal for Wednesday and Thursday in Rangpur district demanding release of party chairman HM Ershad and protesting false cases charged against JP activists.

JP district convener committee Secretary Member, Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa announced the shutdown on Tuesday.

Earlier the day, at least 20 people were injured as the Moshiur Rahman group and the group of another JP leader Mustafa, locked into a clash in Jahaz Company intersection area around 12:15pm.

However, previously, another faction of the party led by former lawmaker Moshiur Rahman Ranga, also JP leader, called a dawn-to-dusk hartal in eight districts of the division for Wednesday.
