DHAKA: Information and Cultural affairs minister of the poll-time government Hasanul Haque Inu categorically said that Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad was not arrested.

He came up with the observation in a press briefing at the secretariat on Thursday.

Inu said, “It is a holy duty of the state to provide security to HM Ershad as he is a former President of the country. He was not arrested.”

The minister also said that many candidates of JP have started election campaign.

In reply to a question on the secretary level meeting between Awami League and BNP, minister said that the meeting was postponed.
