No permission for Hefajat rally: Quamrul

DHAKA: State Minister for Law Advocate Quamrul Islam on Sunday said the Hefajat-e-Islam would not be allowed to hold any rally on December 24 at City’s Shapla Chattar.

The minister made the disclosure while addressing a joint meeting of 14-party Dhaka city unit at Awami League office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the city.

He said, “Hefajat-e-Islam will not be allowed to hold its scheduled December 24 rally at Motijheel Shapla Chattar, as they want to create anarchy in the name of holding a rally… government wouldn’t give them any scope to create such unwanted situation ahead of national polls”.

Quamrul said: “BNP and Jamaat are playing a deadly game with fire leading towards a dire consequence.

He also said as Sheikh Hasina is now on the right track, everyone should cooperate her.

During the meeting, AL city unit general secretary Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya said they would resist even at the cost of their lives if Hefajat carries out any terrorist activities on December 24.
