BOGRA: Opposition BNP-led 18-party alliance called dawn-to-dusk hartal in the district for Monday protesting arrests of 65 leaders and activists of the alliance on Sunday.

Earlier on Sunday, joint forces detained 65 blockaders from Dhaka-Bogra highway under Shahjahanpur Thana of the district around 1:30pm while they were picketing during the second day blockade.

District BNP President Saiful Islam announced the shutdown immediately after the arrests.

Additional Superintend of Police (ASP) Syed Abu Sayem said that law enforcers held around 65 people for their alleged involvement in creating anarchic situation.
