At least 1900 leaders and activists of BNP were sued in three cases in connection with a clash with police in Kishoreganj’s Kuliarchar during the nationwide blockade called by the party.
Kuliarchar police station's officer-in-charge (OC) Md Golam Mostafa confirmed the matter.
Sub-Inspector Tarek Parvez of Kuliarchar police station filed two cases while sub-inspector Noor-e-Alam filed another case, he said.
So far three people have been arrested in these cases, he added.
BNP claimed at least two died during a clash with Kishoreganj's Kuliarchar on Tuesday (October 31) morning as police opened fire on the BNP activists.
The victims were identified as Refayat Ullah, 20, vice-president of Chhaysuti union Chhatra Dal and Billal Mia, 30, president of Chhaysuti union unit Krishak Dal.
The BNP leaders and activists of the party brought out a procession in Chhaysuti bus stand area of Kuliarchar upazila on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in support of the countrywide blockade programme on Tuesday morning.
At one point, a clash took place between the BNP activists and the law enforcers, leaving the two dead and 100 other were injured, Shariful Alam, president of Kishoreganj Zila BNP said.
