The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained former home minister, and Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) Vice President Air Vice Marshal (retd) Altaf Hossain Chowdhury.
RAB arrested him in the early hours of Sunday (November 5) while he was hiding in the Tongi area in Gazipur.
RAB’s Law and Media Wing Director Commander Khandaker Al Moin confirmed the matter.
He was detained in connection with a case filed over carrying out acts of sabotage and violence, and attacking the chief justice’s residence on October 28, Khandaker Al Moin said.
Altaf Hossain has been taken to Rab Headquarters for primary interrogation, he added.
BNP and its allies are holding another 48-hour countrywide blockade program from Sunday.
