BOGRA: The indefinite blockade and the 36-hour hartal, called by BNP-led 18-party opposition alliance, are underway simultaneously in the district on Wednesday amid stray incidents of picketing.

The alliance leaders-activists are observing the hartal protesting the two-day confinement of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan residence.

Activists of Chhatra Shibir and Juba Dal-Chhatra Dal are picketing at several points of the town including Sherpur road colony, PTI intersection, Matidhali Biman Intersection, Tinmatha rail gate areas.

Shops, markets remained stopped due to hartal.

No heavy vehicles even small ones were seen plying through roads and no long-route vehicles left the district.

The shutdown started from Wednesday 6:00am and will continue till Thursday 6:00pm.
