The Awami League (AL) working committee has decided not to give the party symbol in the upazila elections. 

Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader came up with the information after holding the working committee meeting on Monday night.

He said the decision of the working committee will be finalised in a joint meeting of the party's local nomination board and parliamentary nomination board. However, the decision of the executive committee is still pending.

Obaidul Quader also said that the eight divisional committees of the AL have been instructed to convene in Dhaka to address the conflicts arising between independent candidates and party candidates centring the 12th parliamentary election.
