JHENIDAH: BNP-led 18-party alliance called half-day hartal at Court Chandpur and Mahespur upazilas in the district for Monday in protest against the death of local Jamaat leader in a gunfight with combined forces on Saturday night.

Jamaat central leader Professor Motiar Rahman told banglanews that the programme was declared from an emergency meeting of Court Chandpur upazila 18-party on Sunday noon protesting the death of upazila Jamaat finance secretary Enamul Haque.

Central organizing secretary of BNP Moshiur Rahman, also Jhenidah district convener of 18-party, criticized the killing.
