Leaders of the Awami League-led 14-party alliance have strongly recommended banning the politics of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing, Islami Chhatra Shibir, for their involvement in anti-state activities.

The 14-party leaders reached a decision to ban politics of Jamaat-Shibir during a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader told reporters after emerging from the meeting.

The 14-party alliance leaders held a meeting with Sheikh Hasina, president of the ruling Awami League, around 8:30pm against the backdrop of the quota reform movement.
