Ban on Jamaat-Shibir lifted

The banning order of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir was withdrawn today (August 28).

Advocate Mohammad Shishir Manir, the lawyer for Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, confirmed the matter.

According to him, the government has withdrawn the notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs that banned the politics of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir.

The home ministry published a gazette notification today in this regard.

On August 1, the Awami League government banned Jamaat-e-Islami, its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir and all of its front organisations as political parties and entities under the Anti-Terrorism Act-2009.

On 5 August, Sheikh Hasina resigned as prime minister and fled the country in the face of a mass uprising against her AL government.
