LAXMIPUR: A Juba Dal leader was shot dead in Chandragram west Bazar under Sadar Upazila of the district on Friday noon.

The deceased was identified as Abu Hossain, former ward Juba Dal president of the union.

Sources said that there was a longstanding dispute between Zisan group and Nasir group over establishing supremacy in the area.

Following the dispute, activists of Nasir group opened fire aiming the victim on Thursday morning, leaving him critically injured.

Later, he was admitted to Noakhali Asia Hospital where he died under treatment on Friday noon.

Chandraganj Police Investigation Sub-Inspector Abu Taher confirmed the matter to banglanews.
