Ali Azam Mukul, former lawmaker from Bhola-2 constituency, was arrested in a murder case.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) nabbed him from Hazaribagh area in the capital around 7:30 pm on Wednesday.

RAB-2 assistant director ASP Shihab Karim confirmed the matter.

He said that one Nahidul Islam was killed in Mirpur area of the capital on July 19 during the anti-discrimination student movement.

Former Member of Parliament Ali Azam Mukul is one of the accused in the murder case filed in that incident, he also said. 

Ali Azam Mukul was elected Member of Parliament as an Awami League candidate from Bhola-2 constituency in 2014. After that, he was elected Member of Parliament from the same seat in the 2018 and 2024 elections.
