A Dhaka court today (Nov 15) sent to jail former Barishal-3 lawmaker Golam Kibria Tipu in a case lodged for attacking motorcade of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia in 2018 in Dhaka.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sharifur Rahman passed the order.
Earlier, police produced Tipu before the court and pleaded to keep him behind the bars till the completion of probe.
Tipu was detained by locals and handed over to the police on Thursday (Nov 14).
According to the case documents, BNP chairperson's motorcade came under attack as the former prime minister was traveling from her Gulshan house to Bakshibazar special court on February 8, 2018.
Several vehicles were vandalized and party activists got injured in the attack.
People's Party Chairman Babul Sardar Chakhari filed the case with Hatirjheel Police Station on November 8 this year against 65 people, including Jatiya Party chairman GM Quader.
