DHAKA:  Speaker Abdul Hamid Advocate on Monday assured the BNP lawmakers of government permission for sending lawmaker Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee abroad for better treatment.

The speaker gave the assurance while an 18-member parliamentary delegation of BNP led by opposition Chief whip Joynal Abdin Faruk called on him at his office in the afternoon.   

Expressing concern over health condition, Anee’s family sought permission of the speaker for sending him abroad for treatment. The delegation apprised the speaker that all arrangements for treatment of Anee were made in Singapore.

The speaker assured the delegation that he would look into the matter.

The BNP lawmakers told reporters at the Sangsad Bhaban that they also discussed other issues during the meeting.  

They said the speaker has requested them to return to parliament. The BNP lawmakers explained their problems.
