Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur has returned to Bangladesh after receiving medical treatment in Singapore.
He arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday evening, where a large number of party leaders and activists gathered at the VIP gate to welcome him.
Earlier in the day, around 10:45am, the organisation’s Central General Secretary Rashed Khan confirmed Nur’s return to the country.
During his 12-day stay in Singapore, Nur underwent several medical tests and treatments at Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
Nur had travelled abroad for advanced treatment following an alleged police attack on 29 August in front of the party’s central office at Bijoynagar in the capital. According to party sources, at least 50 people, including Nur and Rashed Khan, were injured during the incident.
After sustaining serious injuries, Nur was first taken to Islami Bank Hospital and later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital on doctors’ advice the same night. He received treatment there for 18 days before being discharged and later flown to Singapore on 22 September for further treatment.
Party members expressed relief and joy at Nur’s safe return, marking it as a hopeful moment for the Gono Odhikar Parishad after weeks of concern over his health.
