Former Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun passed away on Monday morning while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He was 73.
His son, Manjurul Majid Mahmud Sadi, confirmed the news.
Humayun had been in prison after his arrest in connection with cases filed over murder, attacks, and vandalism during the anti-discrimination student movement in Narsingdi. On Sunday, due to illness, he was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he died at around 7:00am today.
Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun was first elected a lawmaker from Narsingdi-4 (Monohardi-Belabo) as an independent candidate in 1986. He was later elected to parliament in 2008, 2014, 2019, and most recently in 2024 as a candidate of the now-banned Awami League.
