CEC satisfied over peaceful polls

FROM ELECTION COMMISSION: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed expressed satisfaction over polls in 97 upazilas of 40 districts Wednesday terming it peaceful.

The chief election commissioner expressed his reaction while a formal briefing at his office in the evening.

“Voting ended peacefully and the percentage of votes cast can be known after counting,” he said.

Rakibuddin claimed that the voting was fair except one or two separate incidents.

The first phase of 6-phased upazila polls ended Wednesday. Next phases voting will be held on February 27, March 15, 23, 31 and May 3.
