A Dhaka court has granted a four-day remand for Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jasad) President and former minister Hasanul Haq Inu in a case related to the shooting and killing of Monir during an anti-discrimination protest in the capital's Progoti Sarani area.
Metropolitan Magistrate Sharifur Rahman approved the remand on Monday (December 30), after Detective Branch (DB) Sub-Inspector Abu Jafar Biswas, the investigating officer, sought a 10-day remand for questioning.
However, Inu's lawyer opposed the remand plea and filed for bail, which was rejected.
According to the case, on July 19, Monir Bahadur Hossain was shot while crossing the road in Progoti Sarani during the protest. He later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The victim's father, Abu Zafar, filed a murder case on September 30 with Gulshan Police Station, naming Sheikh Hasina and 105 others as accused.
