Police have arrested former president of Ward-1 Awami League (AL) in Muktagacha municipality, Mymensingh, along with two others in connection with various cases.

The AL leader was identified as Moniruzzaman Dudu, 55. He was resident of Lakshmikhola, had been a close ally of former Muktagacha mayor and upazila Awami League general secretary Billal Hossain Sarkar.

The arrests were made on Sunday night during operations in Madhupur, Tangail. 

On Monday (Dec 30) the Magistrate of Mymensingh Chief Judicial Magistrate Court ordered to send them to jail.

Muktagacha Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Kamal Hossain confirmed the matter.

He said there were charges of vandalism, sabotage, and fraud against Moniruzzaman. 

Two others arrestees Mamun and Jihad, linked to a dollar scam, he said.
