A new national political party, led by young activists from the July mass uprising, is set to be launched on February 28 at 3:00 PM.
The announcement was made during a press conference on Monday (February 24) at the central office of the Citizens’ Committee.
Sarjis Alam, chief organizer of the National Citizens’ Committee, said that the party is being formed by organizers of the anti-discrimination student movement, which later evolved into the National Citizens’ Committee.
The press conference was attended by Akhter Hossain, member secretary of the committee, spokesperson Samanta Sharmin, joint conveners Monira Sharmin and Ariful Islam Adib, member Akram Hossain, and anti-discrimination student movement leaders Arif Sohel and Abdul Hannan Masud.
Initially, the party was supposed to be launched at the Central Shaheed Minar, but the venue may be shifted to Manik Mia Avenue. Several organizing committees are already working on the event, though the party's name has not yet been finalized.
