BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has said that the continuous journey of democracy in Bangladesh is still being hindered at every step.

She made the remarks virtually on Thursday (May 29) while addressing a discussion held at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) auditorium in Dhaka’s Ramna area.

The programme was organised to mark the 44th death anniversary of BNP founder and former President Ziaur Rahman.

Khaleda Zia said, “The democracy for which martyred President Ziaur Rahman gave his life is still facing obstacles at every step.”

She expressed hope, saying, “Soon we will see the restoration of democracy in Bangladesh. Let this be our pledge on the martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Zia.”
