BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia today (Feb 27) warned that forces opposed to democracy continue to conspire, urging everyone to unite in the struggle to restore democratic governance in Bangladesh.
Speaking virtually from London at BNP's daylong meeting today, Khaleda emphasized the importance of collective effort against autocratic rule.
"Although I'm in the UK for treatment, I'm always beside you," she said. "I convey my gratitude to those who have fought for the last 15 years for my release."
Highlighting the country's current political climate, Khaleda Zia cautioned against actions that might undermine past achievements.
"The country is going through a crisis. Don't do anything that jeopardizes your achievements. The whole nation is eagerly waiting for a democratic change," she stated.
She stressed the need for unity and urged everyone to set aside narrow interests for the greater good of the country.
"We have to let go of our narrow mindset and work for the greater good of the nation," she added.
Khaleda Zia also warned about the continued presence of anti-democratic forces.
"The fascists are still out there trying to foil the achievement of the mass uprising. Come and let's strengthen our newfound freedom and build BNP like it was before," she urged.
