A Dhaka court today (March 25) ordered the freezing of 31 bank accounts belonging to former Jamalpur-3 lawmaker Mirza Azam and his wife, Dewan Aleya, over graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing two separate pleas of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). 

Of the accounts, 18 are in Mirza Azam’s name and 13 in his wife's.

The court also directed authorities to attach 19 bighas of land owned by the couple.
