Nasim threatens to stop assistance to police hospitals

DHAKA: Health Minister Mohammad Nasim threatened that all types of assistance would be stopped until the accused police officer is brought under law.

He came up with the declaration while addressing a discussion at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) in city on Wednesday noon.

The minister told audience, “We said that if anyone was offended then they can complain but why will they beat doctors?”

He also said that a police officer was involved in the doctor assault incidents. If the necessary steps are not taken by home ministry, then all types of facilities to the police hospitals will be withdrawn.

Earlier, Doctors at Bangladesh Institute of Research & Rehabilitation in Diabetes, Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders (BIRDEM) Hospital went on work abstention on Tuesday protesting assault on colleagues by relatives of a patient.
