The National Standing Committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has reviewed the ongoing political and administrative developments in the country during a meeting held in Dhaka on Monday night.

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman presided over the meeting virtually from London. Senior leaders gathered at the party chairperson’s political office in the capital’s Gulshan area.

Party sources said the meeting assessed recent developments, including the outcome of BNP's delegation meeting with the Chief Adviser on Saturday evening.

Leaders also discussed preparations for the observance of the martyrdom anniversary of the party’s founder, late President Ziaur Rahman, on May 30.

Additionally, the meeting reviewed the recent unrest in several government institutions and the tense situation at the Secretariat amid ongoing protests by civil servants against the Public Service (Amendment) Ordinance 2025.

The BNP will brief the media on the outcomes of the meeting and its current stance on the national situation at a press conference scheduled for 3:00 pm today (May 27) at the party chairperson’s Gulshan office.

BNP Chairperson’s Press Wing official Shamsuddin Didar confirmed the schedule of the press briefing.
