DHAKA: Hartal, called by locals units of BNP-led 19-party alliance separately, was observed in nine upazilas of five districts on Monday protesting vote manipulation in the 4th phase upazila polls and demanding re-election there.

The dawn-to-dusk hartal, called by district BNP-led 19-party alliance, was observed at the five upazilas of the district demanding re-election there.
The upazilas are: Rupsha, Dacope, Batiaghata, Terkhada and Phultola.
No procession, picketing, sabotages, vandalism and torching incidents were reported in support of hartal there till filing the report 9:07am.
Fewer vehicles were seen plying in the area. No long-distance buses left the terminals.
A district police administration source told banglanews that police remains alert, in addition, Rapid Action Battalion are on regular patrol-duty.
Apart form the upazilas of Khulna, BNP-led 19-party alliance observed hartal in the day in four more upazilas of four other districts.
The upazilas are: Akhaura of Brahmanbaria, Sonagazi of Feni, Agailjhara of Barisal and Jibannagar of Chuadanga.
The local units of the alliance called the hartals in protest of manipulating upazila election, stanching ballot boxes, beating its polling agents, and ousting them from the stations during the polls in the upazila election of the 4th phase on Sunday.

Akhaura upazila BNP unit observed the half-day hartal protesting the killing of a Juba Dal leader there.
Upazila JD vice president Hadis Mian was killed in clash between BNP men and Border Guard Bangladesh Sunday afternoon.
Correspondent from Feni reports that the dawn-to-dusk hartal, called by upazila BNP, was observed in Sonagazi upazila in protest of fake vote casting, occupying of the polling stations and beating the polling agents.
Banglanews Correspondent from Barisal reports Agailjhara BNP unit observed a half-day hartal protesting voting rigging during the upazila election held on Sunday.
Correspondent from Chuadanga reports a dawn-to-dusk hartal, enforced by BNP-led 19-party alliance, was observed at Jibannagar upazila demanding re-election to Sunday’s upazila polls.
