Aman gets bail, Gayeshwar denied

DHAKA: The High Court on Tuesday granted a 6-month bail to BNP joint secretary Amanullah Aman in a case filed over the killing of Islami Chhatra Shibir leader Mansur Pradhania.

The court also rejected bail to BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy in the same case as a judge felt discomfort during hearing.

A HC bench of Justice Nayma Hidar and Justice Zafar Ahmed passed the orders after hearing.

Earlier Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court rejected bail petitions to the leaders on April 20 and April 23 in the case separately.

On April 20, the same court granted bail on bond to BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas in the case for six months.

The Shibir leader was killed in violence during BNP-led the then 18-Party’s March for Democracy programme at Chudhurypara in Malibagh area of the city on December 29.

Rampura Thana Sub-Inspector Al Manum filed a murder case with Ramna thana in this connection making the three leaders as the prime accused.
