DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Wednesday fixed June 10 for hearing on charge framing against 194 leaders and activists of BNP, including its acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in two separate cases.
Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal magistrates Harun-ur-Rashid and Tareq Mainul Islam Bhuiyan fixed the date in the cases for torching vehicle in front of Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and carrying out violence in front of BNP’s office.
Defense lawyer Zainul Abedin Mezbah told banglanews: “The hearing has been deferred as two of the main accused– Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and Amanullah Ama--in the cases are in jai.”
On May 10, 2013 police submitted charge-sheet against 45 people including Fakhrul in a case filed over vehicle torching in front of PMO.
On March 11, 2013, police detained 154 BNP men over their involvement in cocktail explosions and violence in front of BNP’s Nayapaltan office.
On March 24, police submitted charge-sheet against 148 BNP and 18-party alliance men to a Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in a case related to the explosion and violence.
