DHAKA: Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman HM Ershad and his wife also opposition leader Rawsan Ershad took different positions on the by-poll of Narayanganj-5 constituency.
JP Chairman wanted to nominate the party presidium member GM Kader while Rawsan wanted to nominate her political secretary Golam Masih.
On the other hand, local Jatiya Party leaders gave their nods to Parvin Osman, wife of late Nasim Osman for nomination.
Following the matter, JP general secretary Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu said that it was not confirmed that who would be nominated.
Parliamentary board will take the decision, he added.
Narayanganj-5 by-election is scheduled to be held on June 26.
The last date for nomination submission is May 29 and securitization of the nomination papers is June 1.
The last date for nomination withdrawal is June 9.
Ruling Awami League had no candidate at the constituency for the January 5 polls.
Nasim Osman won the seat under JP ticket. Later, it became vacant after Nasim’s death on April 29.
