JESSORE:  A local leader of Jatiyatabadi Chattra Dal (JCD), the student wing of the opposition BNP was injured with bullet and leathal weapons by some miscreants on Thursday night at Sharsha upazila in the district.

The victim was identified as general secretary of Sharsha upazila JCD unit Mohammad Salauddin.

Police and eyewitnesses said seven to eight miscreants attacked salauddin with lethal weapons near Navaron Bazar when he was returning home from Navaron Satkhira intersection in the night.

The miscreants also fired at him to confirm his death and then retreated from the scene.

Later, local people took him to Jessore General Hospital in critical condition.

OC of Sharsha Thana Enamul Haq said police were sent to the spot immediately.

No case was filed yet in this connection.
