GAZIPUR: The district unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on Sunday called a protest meeting on December 27 at the same venue where BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is scheduled to hold a rally on the day.
BCL leaders further said the rally will not be changed unless BNP’s Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman withdraws his remarks demeaning Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and seeks pardon to the nation.
They also demanded expulsion of Tarique from the party for his offensive comments.
The convener of Gazipur District Chhatra League Delwar Hossain called the meeting at Bhawal Badre Alam Government College ground on the day.
Delwar Hossain said, “Tarique should withdraw his derogatory comments against Bangabandhu and also should seek apology. Moreover, BNP should expel him from the party.”
Gazipur Police sources said that the BCL leaders also sought permission from Police Superintendent to hold a rally at the same place on the day.
The administration received their application and will inform later about the permission.
