DHAKA: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia vowed to continue with the ongoing movement of BNP-led 20-party alliance till country’s ‘democracy is restored’.
BNP vice-chairman Major (retd) Mohammad Hafizuddin Ahmed, quoting the chairperson, made the statement while talking to the journalists at Khaleda’s Gulshan political office on Monday night.
Citing the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s remark “Khaleda is the leader of militancy”, Hafizuddin said the BNP chief is a leader of the people. She has no link to militancy.
The BNP leader went on saying that they do not expect such false speeches from country’s premier.
Asked whether BNP will withdrew the blockade upon getting permission to hold rallies, Hafizuddin said, the matter will really be decided through discussion between BNP chief and the alliance leaders.
Positive results may come out on the matter, hoped the BNP leader.
Citing Hasina’s remark “Khaleda is not confined militancy”, Hafizuddin said that let the police be withdrawn in front their chairperson’s office, then leaders and activists of BNP and its alliance will provide security to Khaleda.
Violence is taking place due to the provoking speeches of the ministers and government will have to bear responsibilities for all of these, he claimed.
Referring to the premier, Hafizuddin said you (Hasina) are the daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. For the sake of the country and the people, help to save democracy by holding national election under a non-partisan neutral government through discussion, he urged Hasina.
