DHAKA: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detained a total of 23 people during separate drives across the city in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning.

Of the detainees, 13 are the leaders-activists of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and 10 are leaders-activists of Jamaat-e-Islami.

DMP deputy commissioner (media and public relation) Masudur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.

BNP-led alliance is observing a fresh spell of 72-hour hartal across the country since Sunday morning protesting the killing and arrests of the alliance men and demanding the restoration of democracy and voting rights, coupled with nationwide blockade.
