DHAKA: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detained a total of 20 people during separate drives across the city in the last 24 hours till Thursday morning.
Of the detainees, twelve are leaders-activists of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and eight are leaders-activists of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner (media and public relation) of DMP, confirmed the matter to banglanews.
The DMP DC said they were detained for their alleged connection in carrying out and planning sabotages in the city during the BNP-led 20-party alliance-sponsored hartals and blockade.
Legal actions are being taken against the detainees, added the commissioner.
