DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina categorically on Sunday said BNP and its key ally Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami are now planning to launch grenade-attack for creating more anarchy in the country.
The premier, also ruling Awami League president, made the assertion during her visit to the law, justice and parliamentary affairs ministry.
The PM said she has already asked authorities concerned to take necessary steps to prevent these sorts of attacks and to find out the involved immediately.
Terming BNP and its allies’ activities as a futile exercise, she said that the unrest situation could tarnish the country’s image abroad though they gained nothing from these evil practices.
Sheikh Hasina said, “Bangladesh has never seen this culture of killing people in the name of political movement, BNP-Jamaat has imported this.”
“Moreover, I have come to know that one Jamaat leader has recently proposed to charge grenades (to create more anarchy),” she said.
“I have also ordered the intelligence to find out the culprit,” she added.
However, the PM also directed the authorities concerned to take immediate steps for speedy and exemplary trial of the criminals for the recent violence and other atrocities on innocent people saying that the delay of trials would encourage them for more sabotages.
Law minister Anisul Huq and the ministry’s secretary, among others, were present during the PM’s visit.
