DHAKA: Opposition leader and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia Saturday attended an iftar party hosted by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) at the South Plaza of Parliament.

She joined an iftar party for the first time at any sponsor’s invitation this Ramadan. Earlier, Begum Zia hosted an iftar party for orphans and Islamic scholars on the first day of Ramadan.

Among others, BNP standing committee members Dr. Khondakar Mosharraf Hossain, Nazrul Islam Khan, Gayeswar Chandra Roy, party vice-chairman MK Anwar, Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, Barrister Nazmul Huda, Chairperson’s adviser M Osman Faruque, Shamsuzzaman Dudu and Dr. AZM Jahid Hossain attended the programme.

Khaleda Zia will host iftars for the country’s political leaders at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) on August 17 and for professionals and noted personalities at South Plaza of the Parliament on August 21.

“The party chief has specially requested newly elected Chittagong mayor Manzur Alam to attend the iftar parties,” said a party source.
