13 Shibir men acquitted of murder charge

CHITTAGONG: A speedy trial tribunal on Wednesday acquitted 13 Shibir men of the charge of killing a Jatiyarabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leader Jamir Uddin.

Judge of Chittagong Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal Reza Tarique Ahmed produced the verdict after 20 years of killing the former general secretary of Chittagong Polytechnic Institute unit JCD.

Tribunal’s Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate M Aiyub Khan confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Earlier on November 20 in 1994, some Shibir cadres of attacked the Chittagong Polytechnic Institute establishing supremacy in the institution that ensued a clash between JCD and Shibir men.

At one stage, some Shibir leaders shot M Jamir Uddin and Institute unit JCD convener Jahangir Farid to death.

Later, Jamir’s brother filed a murder case with Panchlaish Thana.

Police submitted the charge sheet against 15 Shibir cadres including infamous Nasir Uddin.
