JESSORE: Miscreants shot an activist of ruling Awami League to death in Khaldar Road intersection under Kotwali Thana of the district on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Manjur Islam Manju, 45, son of Yusuf Ali Biswas of Hamidpur village of sadar upazila.

Police said some miscreants shot him in the area around 4:00pm while he was going to the town with an auto-rickshaw and fled the spot.

Locals rushed him to Jessore 250-Bed General Hospital where the attending doctors declared him dead.

Jessore Kotwali Model Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Shikdar Akkas Ali confirmed the matter to banglanews.
