DHAKA: Recalling the Ramna Batamul blasts, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday urged people to be careful in resisting the repetition of such tragic incidents.
“In 2001, bombings occurred during ‘Pahela Baishakh’ celebration. So, all of us should be careful in resisting the recurrence of such incidents,” Sheikh Hasina said.
The PM came up with the urge while exchanging views with journalists on the occasion of Bangla New Year.
The country will move further forward and achieve more progress in Bangla New Year, she hoped.
Terming the murders and burning people alive as the most heinous acts of brutality in the name the movement, the premier expressed the hope that such heinous acts should not be repeated.
However, bomb attacks at Ramna Batamul in 2001 left 10 people dead and many others injured.
The attack did not stop the ‘naba barsha’ festivity rather it has spread to different parts of the country.
Seeking cooperation from the media, the PM further said, “We need cooperation from all to move the country forward. You have to criticize us if we fail to keep commitment that will help up find out the loopholes”.
She commented that constructive criticism helps complete a work properly.
However, the attendees upheld their opinions after the premier’s speech.
