DHAKA: Additional law enforcers, water cannon, APC and riot cars have been deployed in front BNP’s Nayapaltan Central Office after the party boycotted three city polls.
Four platoons of police, led by a deputy police commissioner took position on both sides of the road around BNP office on Tuesday afternoon. Paltan Thana OC was also seen among them.
However, police have not arrested or obstructed anyone there.
Earlier in the day, BNP boycotted Dhaka North, Dhaka South and Chittagong City Corporations polls raising allegation of massive vote rigging and attack on their polling agents.
BNP standing committee member Maudud Ahmed made the announcement in a press briefing at its Nayapaltan central office on Tuesday.
Afroza Abbas, wife of BNP-backed mayoral candidate Mirza Abbas for Dhaka South City Corporation and Tabith Awal, BNP-backed mayoral candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation were also present there.
