6 hurt in Dhaka South polling center clash

DHAKA: Six people, including a four-year-old boy, were injured when supporters of two councilor candidates locked into clashes at Kamalapur High School center of Dhaka South City Corporation on Tuesday.

The injured -- Mukul, 37, Sumon, 28, Shafikul, 35, Saiful, 30, Sabbir, 30 an Arafat, 4 –are undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

Of them, Mukul received knife-stab wounds in his back.

Injured Arafat’s father Sohrab Ali said he, along with his family members, was traveling by rickshaw. At one stage, a piece of brick hit his son’s head.

Rests of the injured said when councilor candidate Azad M Sadikul Islam approached to vote center around 12:00pm, supporters of AL-back councilor candidate started hurling brick-chips that triggered clashes.
