Mirza Abbas bail hearing May 24

DHAKA: The High Court (HC) on Tuesday deferred the date of hearing of BNP standing committee member and also Dhaka Metropolitan BNP convener Mirza Abbas on May 24 in two sabotage cases.

A single bench of Justice Ruhul Quddus on Monday fixed the date in response to a three-week time petition filed by Abbas’ lawyers Advocate Joynul Abedin and Advocate Nitai Roy Chowdhury.

However, Deputy Attorney General Bashirullah moved for the state.

Earlier on December 28, 2014, police filed the torching and vandalism case with Paltan Thana and another case under Explosives Act filed on January 4, 2015 with Motijheel Thana.

Mirza Abbas filed a bail petition in three cases on April 12 for his candidacy of city corporation election.
