DHAKA: At least 152 people, including nine activists of Jamaat-e-Islami, were arrested in overnight drives in Satkhira, Jessore and Jhenaidah districts on Wednesday.

In Satkhira, police arrested 71 people, including nine Jamaat men, in drives conducted from Tuesday night to Wednesday 11:00am.

Satkhira district police special branch (SB) inspector Emdad Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Moreover, police arrested 58 persons conducting nightlong drives across Jessore district.

Jessore district police control room sources said that the arrestees are accused in different cases.

Meanwhile, at least 23 people, accused in different cases, were arrested in Jhenaidah in drives conducted between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
