DHAKA: Tabith Awal, who contended the Dhaka North City Corporation election for mayoral post, met BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed at Shillong Civic Hospital in Meghalaya state of India.

Tabith’s family and BNP leaders confirmed the matter to banglanews.

However, the senior leader of BNP is undergoing treatment in the hospital under police custody.

On May 12, Salauddin, who was missing for last two months, has been arrested in Shillong and admitted to the hospital.

He was not carrying a passport and could not recollect how he had reached Shillong from Bangladesh but he claimed he had been kidnapped from Dhaka two months ago.

He also telephoned his wife in Dhaka on May 13. Later, her wife held a press conference stating that her husband, missing since March 10, had been found.
