Salahuddin to be tried at home State minister for home affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal

DHAKA: State minister for home affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that BNP leader Shalahuddin Ahmed will be brought back and tried at home in accusation of creating violence in the country during BNP-enforced nationwide blockade.

The minister made the comment at a Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters Forum (BSRF)-organized discussion at his secretariat office in city on Thursday.

The state minister said that BNP joint secretary general and also spokesperson Salahuddin Ahmed used to order the party people secretly to carry out subversive activities during the BNP-sponsored nationwide blockade.

‘We were looking for him (Salahuddin). He used to change his location every hour. It is questionable how he went to Shilong,’ Kamal added.

He informed the media that the government is taking initiatives to bring Salahuddin back.

To a question, the state minister said that if India returns Salahuddin now, then the government will bring him back, if India trials him, then he will be brought after trial.

According to him, whenever Salahuddin will be back, he will come under trial at home.

However, BNP leader Salahuddin went missing in the night of March 10 and his whereabouts were known on May 12. He was under treatment at a hospital in Shillong of Indian state of Meghalaya.
