Tulip elected member of UK parliamentary select committee

LONDON: Bangabandhu’s granddaughter and Sheikh Rehana’s daughter Tulip Siddiq has been elected a member of the Select Committee on Women and Equality Affairs of the House of Commons.

Tulip Siddiq was elected on Tuesday morning (London local time).

After being elected a member of the Parliamentary Select Committee, expressing satisfaction with her new responsibilities, Tulip Siddiq told banglanews that with that hope, the Labour party elected me for the responsible post, I want blessing to everyone to play the responsibility in the right way.
 
Tulip further said that Women and Equality Affairs Select Committee membership is an important responsibility. The Labour Party has elected me in this important position keeping confidence on me. I give thanks to the party for electing me in this position.

On May 7, Tulip Siddiq was elected MP from the Labour Party in the UK general election.
