DHAKA: Charge hearing of 26 BNP leaders and activists including its acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has been fixed on August 26.
Earlier, it was dated on July 28.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tarique Mainul Islam Bhuiyan rescheduled the date following a plea by Fakhrul’s lawyer Joynul Abedin Mesbah as the BNP leader had left Dhaka for Singapore for medical treatment.
The other accused of the vandalism and arson case included BNP standing committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Mirza Abbas and Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and its joint secretary general Aman Ullah.
The case was filed against 26 BNP leaders and activists in the incidents of explosions and vandalism in city’s Paltan area during the BNP-sponsored hartal and blockade on March 2, 2013.
Paltan Thana sub-inspector (SI) Mehedi Maqsud filed the case on the following day.
Paltan Thana SI Aminul Islam and also investigation officer of the case submitted a charge-sheet against the BNP leaders and activists on March 30 of the year.
