JESSORE: A district court on Thursday granted bail to BNP standing committee member and also former minister Tariqul Islam in four cases filed for sabotages during this year’s blockade-hartals.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Abu Ibrahim passed the order as the BNP leader sought bail this noon after surrendering before it.

Jessore court police inspector Rezaul Hossian confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Earlier on July 27, the Supreme Court upheld the HC order that granted bail to BNP leader Tariqul Islam in four sabotage cases.

The apex court also asked the BNP leader to surrender before a lower court within a week over separate cases.

Earlier the High Court granted bail to the BNP leader for four weeks in a number of cases on July 9 and later, the state filed a petition seeking stay of HC order on July 14.
